Looking after the shop

Your colours, logo and receipt

The shop's own colour, logo, tagline and receipt lines, so the screens and the till roll look like the shop and not like the software.

Open Manage → Brand, or g then b. Whoever may change the shop's details and licence may change this too, because the brand is part of the shop record.

Everything on this page is optional. A shop that never opens it gets the standard look: the marigold yellow, the Chemistbook mark beside the name, and the standard last line on the receipt.

Colour

Seven colours are on offer: Marigold, Pine, Ocean, Plum, Clay, Slate and Berry. Pick one and the whole app takes it at once, before you save, so you can see it on the sidebar and the buttons; leave the page without saving and the old colour comes back. Buttons, links, the sidebar, the focus ring and the sign-in screen all follow it.

The set is fixed rather than a free colour wheel on purpose. Each of the seven was chosen so that text stays readable on it in both light and dark mode and on a cheap monitor in a bright shop. A colour that looked right on the owner's phone and turned every button grey on the shop PC would cost more than it is worth.

Upload a PNG, JPEG or WebP image of 512 KB or less. A square image, or one a little wider than tall, sits best beside the name. It is judged by its bytes, not its file name: a .png that is really something else is refused.

The logo appears:

  • beside the shop's name at the top of the sidebar, instead of the Chemistbook mark;
  • on the sign-in screen;
  • at the top of every printed receipt, in black on the roll.

Remove logo puts the Chemistbook mark back. Uploading again replaces the old one; the browser fetches the new picture straight away rather than showing the old one from its cache.

A logo drawn in one dark colour on a transparent or white background prints cleanest on a thermal roll. Photographs and fine gradients come out as a grey smudge.

Tagline

Up to 120 characters, shown under the shop's name on the sign-in screen: Your neighbourhood chemist since 2019. It is the only line a customer or a stranger could read without signing in, so keep it to what is already on the shop front.

Receipt lines

Two lines, each up to 200 characters, printed on every receipt. Line breaks are kept.

  • Receipt header goes under the shop's name and address: opening hours, a second phone number, a Ghana Card or TIN number if the shop prints one.
  • Receipt footer is the last line. Left blank, the receipt ends with the standard Class C medicines and general goods only · Keep this receipt. Put something in and it replaces that line, so if the standard wording matters to the shop, keep it in what you write.

Changes apply to receipts printed from then on. A receipt reprinted for an old sale carries the lines as they are now, not as they were on the day.

What is recorded

Every change here is an entry in the audit trail against the shop record, showing who changed what, from what to what. Uploading or removing the logo is recorded the same way, as its type and size.

The shortcut on the desktop and in the Start menu, which opens the Chemistbook window, stays Chemistbook. The brand changes what is inside the window, its title included, not the shortcut.
