Getting started

Signing in

Every person has their own account. Where to open the system, what happens after too many wrong passwords, and how to sign out.

Opening the system

On the shop PC, open the browser and go to http://localhost. On a phone or tablet on the shop's Wi-Fi, use the PC's address instead, for example http://192.168.8.10. The address is the same for everyone; only the account differs.

Once it is open once, install it as an app so it sits on the home screen or the taskbar like any other app.

Your account

You sign in with a username and a password. The owner creates the account and sets the first password; change it the first time you are in. Every sale, every stock movement and every change you make is recorded against your account, which is why nobody shares one.

Signing in as somebody else puts your work on their name in the audit trail. If you need an account, ask the owner for one; it takes a minute.

Wrong passwords

Sign-in is rate limited. After a run of wrong passwords the account waits before it will try again, which is what stops someone guessing their way in. Wait a few minutes and try again, or ask the owner to set a new password from Manage → Users.

Forgotten passwords

There is no self-service reset, on purpose: the shop PC is not on the internet and has no e-mail of its own. Anyone with the manage users permission (the owner, by default) opens Manage → Users, picks the person and sets a new password. The change goes on the audit trail.

Signing out

Your name is at the bottom of the sidebar. Open it and choose Sign out. Do it whenever you leave the till: the next person should be selling on their own account.

A session that is left open does not last forever. After a long enough gap the system asks for the password again.
