Getting started

Finding your way

The dashboard, the sidebar in four groups, the keyboard chords, search, and how to get back to where you were.

The dashboard

Signing in lands on the dashboard: the licence and its state at the top, then today's takings, the week and the month so far, the shelf at cost, what is below reorder or out of stock, what is at risk of expiry, today's top sellers, takings by payment and by seller, and a Needs attention list of reminders and gaps. Each panel is there only for people whose role allows it. g then h brings you back to it from anywhere.

The sidebar

Four groups follow the shop's day:

GroupScreens
SellTill, Sales by day
StockProducts, Expiry and quarantine, Purchases
ComplyCompliance, Reports, Audit trail
ManageUsers

A group folds and unfolds with a click on its heading. The screen you are on is marked by a pale rail down its left edge and a lit icon; its group opens when you arrive. Screens and groups your role does not allow are simply absent.

On a phone the sidebar tucks away behind the menu button at the top left.

Keyboard chords

Press g and then a letter to jump to a screen. They work from anywhere except inside a text box.

ChordScreen
g hDashboard
g tTill
g dSales by day
g pProducts
g sExpiry and quarantine
g rPurchases
g cCompliance
g eReports
g aAudit trail
g uUsers

The search box at the top of the sidebar, or Ctrl + K ( + K on a Mac), opens a palette that lists every screen you may open. Type a few letters and press Enter.

Getting back

Every screen below the top level has a bar with a breadcrumb on the left, showing where you are (Stock → Products → Paracetamol 500mg), and a Back button that returns to the screen you came from. Esc does the same when no dialogue is open. The browser's own back button works too.

Rows you can click

In every table, clicking a row opens the thing it describes: a sale opens its receipt and its actions, a product opens its page, a purchase opens the delivery. Buttons inside a row do their own job without opening it. The column headings stay in view as a long table scrolls.

Light and dark

The toggle at the bottom of the sidebar switches between the light and the dark theme. The choice is remembered on that device. A till in a dim shop is easier on the eyes in dark.
